So we had our baby girl...Edyn born on Saturday August 15th! She weighed 7lbs 5 oz and was 50 cm.

Here's our story...

Saturday Daniel decided it would be a good day to go golfing and I had a sneaky suspicion that I would probably go into labour if he did. So he went off and around 3pm the contractions started. They started out being every 5-6 minutes which I was kind of surprised they were so close together already. So I hung out at home and tried to relax and drink and eat and clean of course. Then I called Daniel to tell him he better get home soon because the contractions weren't slowing down at all. He got home and at by 7:30pm we were at the hospital. They checked me and I was 3-4 cm dilated, my contractions were 2-3 minutes apart by then. Since there were no beds avaliable anywhere we decided to go back home thinking it might be awhile. I had an uneasy feeling though and didn't want to go too far. We did make it home for about 15 minutes and I felt the pushing/pooing urge. I told Daniel we better go right away and so we were off again. The car ride was awful as I had to fight the pushing urge and I was definetly grunting. My water also broke on the way. As soon as we got there the nurse checked and I was 10 cm and the baby was really far down. They rushed me to the delivery room and with the first push the baby's head was crowned and with 3 more pushes she was out (15 mins altogether). All the staff were shocked that it was so fast and natural for my first and said that at that hospital they hardly ever see it. We were lucky to make it there in time. I tore pretty bad (3rd degree) so they had a specialist come stitch me, which seemed to take forever, but I was able to use the laughing gas which helped a bit.

It was a pretty amazing experience which I think Daniel and I are still in shock about. She was so alert right after and we were able to bond right away which I am very grateful for.

Daniel did an excellent coaching job, remembering the encouraging words and supporting me through everything which I know is because of the great classes we had and by knowing what to expect. Anyways I could probably go on forever, so thank you so much for all you taught us and all the questions you answered.
