Briar Hill Midwives

Hi Sue!

Dan and I would like to introduce Logan Daniel born August 4th (his due date! Apparently we had a couple punctual boys in our class!) at 5:15am weighing in at 8lbs 1oz.

My water broke Friday morning at 1:38 am and active labour kicked in at about 6:00pm that night. Logan was quiet, easy going the entire pregnancy then decided to be a squirmy little bugger for the labour ensuring that I didn't get breaks between contractions. His head was also quite low stimulating the urge to push when I was only 6 cm dilated. This made active labour barely manageable.

We went to the birth centre at 10pm and labored until 4:30am when I was finally able to give in to my urges to push. 45 minutes later we were surprised and delighted to meet Logan who self-latching within half an hour of his first breath.

During labour, Dan was absolutely amazing- from dive rolling over beds to give me counter pressure to slow dancing for hours while I wailed in his ear. At one point I bit his tummy mid contraction and not once did he complain! Haha!! He constantly gave me strength through the toughest contractions and never once mentioned an epidural (though he told me after that there were a couple of times that he was ready to pack it in and get me some drugs). He was, as he promised that one class, a great daddy dolphin! In retrospect it was an amazing journey and the outcome couldn't have been more perfect. I'll have to try for the orgasim next time! ;)

Thank you Sue for all your time, stories, support, information and guidance! I credit our labour and delivery experience to this course as without it, our confidence in the process would have been lost.

Please share this news with whom ever you'd like.

Much love and many thanks!

Vanessa, Dan, Logan and Zoe (our yellow Labrador)
